"Make It And Break It" demo


This painting is an example of the "make it and break it" principle. The sail breaks the horizon, pushing the boat into the foreground.

This creates a sense of depth.  If a wave in the foreground were to break in front of the sail, that would break the sail.  The nearby boat has a hull, but not the far one.  The principle that boats have hulls is set and then is broken.
